Biography - Cindy Blackman

Cindy Blackman was born in Yellow Springs, Ohio on November 18, 1959. Cindy began her musical career as a New York street performer. She spent three semesters at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and also studied with legendary teacher Alan Dawson. She moved to New York City in the 80’s and since that time, she has been seen and heard by millions of people all over the world performing with her own group and Lenny Kravitz.
Cindy has been Lenny's drummer since 1993, but also has a great solo career as a jazz drummer. She released a number of solo albums and a video and has collaborated with a lot of big jazz artists.
